Mr. Sam Sereywathana, director of RCEDO, has 20 years of experience working in rural development sectors with local and international organizations including the Ministry of Industry, CARE international and UNDP. His wide understanding of rural communities and their development is a great asset which has allowed him to become an expert in designing, formulating and managing effective projects.
Under his command for the last ten years, RCEDO has been very attractive and trustworthy to prominent international donors including Diakonia, AusAID, FAO, ZOA, JICA, Canada, European Union, World Bank and so on. Moreover, because of its great achievement, RCEDO has been awarded a Certificate of Complement and a Gold Medal from the royal government, three other Certificates of Complement from Oddor Meanchey and Banteymeanchey’s provincial governors and a Certificate of Satisfaction from AusAID.
Mr. Wathana has a strong compassion and a clear vision that one day the communities will live in peace, equality and prosperity if there are more supportive efforts from local as well as from international donors. He says:
“Civil wars have put a great fear on Cambodian communities, not only in our target areas, but also throughout the whole country. Since 1997, when we believe a peaceful society began, local and international organizations and the government have put massive efforts, commitment and compassion to better the chaotic situations and improve the living standard of communities. However, there remain compelling needs in our communities, and it will take time to build strong and sustainable communities which are free of poverty. RCEDO is committed to working with rural communities to achieve change over the long term. We invite local and international donors to work with us as we achieve a world in which all Cambodian people live in equity, good health, education, peace and democracy”
