Where We Work?
We work with rural communities in Banteay Meanchey, Siem Reap and Oddar Meanchey provinces. After 27 years of conflict (1970-97) and extreme isolation, communities are still recovering from the destabilising effects of war and displacement. Frequent land conflict issues, lack of water and isolation from markets affect farmer livelihoods. In these border regions, poverty leaves people vulnerable to illegal migration, drug use and human trafficking.
RCEDO is working in rural areas of four provinces (Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, Siem Reap, and Battambang) and currently implementing 5 projects in 97 villages in 12 communes in 5 districts.
Banteay Meanchey: 3 target districts, 10 communes, 52 target villages (estimated 12,350 HH’s beneficiaries)
Oddar Meanchey: 2 districts, 7 target communes, 45 target villages (estimated 5,752 HHs beneficiaries).
We (RCEDO) work with rural people to address these challenges and create a more positive future. We ensure that we provide members of rural communities with the opportunity to expand their livelihood activities without depleting natural resources. We strongly believe in knowledge, skills, sharing, and collaboration among development actors and collaborate closely with local authorities, relevant line government agencies, local & International NGOs and private sector. To better serve our communities in a sustainable way, we recognize that we need to build our staff capacity and good governance of local authorities. This is an on-going process which our international NGO partners play an active role in.
